Website Development Worksheet

All websites are not created equal. Some are large, some small. Some have a bare minimum of information and imagery while others are packed full of bells and whistles, from guestbooks to
e-commerce and Flash animation. What kind of website is right for you? That's what this form will help us determine.

Please complete the following information to the best of your abilities. If you don't know the answers to one or more question, that's fine...we will help you figure it out. This is just a first step so we can have some information ready for when we discuss your site with you.

Web development Needs

What kind of web development services are you looking for? A new site or a redesign or upgrade of an old one?

New Site - you don't have one but you need one

Renovation - your existing site is not up to snuff and you want an overhaul. What about your current site do you think nees some work? (Click all that apply below)

Graphics - the site's layout and graphical handling are unappealing, dated or just tired

Navigation - the site is hard to get around, infomation is hard to find, it's easy to get lost

Functions - the site doesn't work for us, lacks something you think a site should do such as                provide ways for a customer to contact you, buy something, sign up for a newsletter, etc

Can't put my finger on it. I don't know what it is, but it isn't right.

Other problem: It's none of those. Or maybe all of them. But I better describe it to you below:

When do you project you will need your site?

Rush (1 month or less)   |    Soon (2-3 months)   |    Future (6 months plus)

                              Not sure/just inquiring

Who is your site's target audience? Describe them as best you can below:

Basic functions you want (or think you might)

Sites have one or more overall functions...some are there to sell, others to inform. What is the function of yours?

What functions do you hope your site fulfills? (Check all that apply)

General Marketing/Information                 Customer Service

Public Relations                                       Media Relations

Advanced functions you want (or think you might)

What advanced functions do you hope your site can do? (Check all that apply)

Online Sales (credit card processing)

Online Ordering (no credit cards)

Online Catalog (no sales)

Delivery/Download of Brochures, etc.

Membership Section (monthly, etc.)

Special Features you want (or think you might)

Which features do you think your site needs:

Flash introduction - an animated multimedia introduction to your site like this one.

Photo Gallery - a gallery of thumbnailed images that expand to a larger size when clicked; each has                its own page--linked to other full-size picture pages. See an example here.

Online forms for contact (sort of like this one) - collect data from your visitors with a form.

Chat - Your site can host an online chat room where visitors can "talk" online.

Guest Book - visitors can sign in to your guestbook and leave a comment.

Mailing List - Visitors can add their names and addresses to your mailing list. On the surface, this                seems simple but it can be a powerful tool for regularly getting your name in front of clients.

Password Protected Area - great for keeping some areas private, either for a group or individual                clients.

Online Catalog - You can put a fully searchable online catalog on your site, complete with product                descriptions, photos and prices. Upgradable to an e-commerce shopping cart as needed.

E-Commerce Solution - Want to sell online? This is the way to go: full-service, flexible shopping cart                technology that can be integrated into an existing website. With this option, you can accept                credit cards (with an internet gateway and processing system).

Memberships - Monthly or annual memberships to your site's password protected areas.

Search Capabilities - If you have a lot of information or text, you may want to have a site search                engine that will perform a keyword search of your site and return result links.
